What other planes were you considering?

For those of you who own or are thinking of owning a 260se/stol: if the 260se/stol were not available, what other plane would you choose that most closely fits your needs/desires?

While hoping not to influence any remaining votes re alternatives to the C-182/260, it's interesting to note that close to 1/3rd (5) of those voting considered very high performance, "new age" aircraft such as Lancair and Cirrus.

And close to another third (5, again) said they were considering other "old age" aircraft such as the heavy haulers and high performance retracts. Once again, there's a big swing from those to the 260SE.

It would seem to be quite a swing from one of those categories to the 260SE which is neither of the 21st century variety, high speed, retract, or heavy hauler.

It's not surprising that 5 others were apparently solely considering the C-182.

But as we all know the 260SE is a very special aircraft in its own right and can't be beaten for its broad range of performance capabilities and sensible design, range, and load carrying compromises, not to mention proven safety over many years, classy cosmetics (paint and interior) a la Peterson, and frequently outstanding state-of-the-art panels.

In any event, the numbers are interesting. What would also be interesting would be some verbiage from the group as to the thought process we each took to arrive at the decision we made to buy the 260SE.
