Jo and I are going to set aside a little time this year to do some traveling. I know I've said it before but this is the year.

We are planning to make about three or four trips to various parts of the country to hopefully make it a little easier to see some of our friends and customers. Needless to say a trip to McCall, Idaho for the fly in is on the agenda but we are also planning trips to the desert southwest and the Dallas/Ft. Worth area along with a couple of spots in the eastern part of the US.

The plan is to head out on Friday, stay Saturday and Sunday and head back on Monday. Hopefully we will be able to visit enough different areas that many of you that cannot make the Idaho fly in will be able to come for a relaxing weekend in some other part of the country.

As we are now in the early planning stages we are open to suggestions as to where some nice mini vacation spots might be and the best time of year weather wise to plan for.

I must say that this planning also tends to lift my spirits a little with all the snow and cold temps we now have. You guys in California and Arizona don't say a thing.

Greetings Todd & Jo,

Please keep us folks updated as to your travel plans as I would certainly look forward to visiting with you again.
When in the Dallas area I have a friend who is a new pilot but has spent a fair amount of time in 21396 with me flying around the country in weather that has been more than shall we say benign. I’m sure he would love to take the time to visit with you folks and glean some of that SE260knowledge that you all impart so well.

Looking forward to visiting with you soon.

Jonathan

PS We won't say a word about the weather out here....

SO Todd it's more than 3 years later, what's the story on your mini-vacations? ;)

HBI is in the middle of the "east coast." Myrtle Beach is just 50" South. Lots of possibilities here or in this area. Levon

Todd,
GHS CORP. would like to "host with help from the other local canards" a regional fly in. Our place would be ideal except for the runway 27 in 9 out. Pilots need to approach around 55K or less. Grass part is around 100' x 1100' uphill protected by 75' trees then 27' x 800' straight asphalt uphill and 400' thirty degree right turn. The runway sounds more challenging than it really is ; but, Asheboro (HBI) is excellent, only 8 miles North with the NC AVIATION MUSEUM, NC ZOO, Excellent Radio Shop, and Guardian Aviation could be a "johnny on the spot" AI services with two or three mechanics as hopefully will not be necessary.

A couple of other owners have expressed a desire to meet with everyone else and would be happy to participate. I have to also add that Myrtle Beach has three airports that are in some ways more attractive. Small and warm Oak Island (New Brunswick SUT ) has a former AIR FORCE ONE operations chief that knows how to make everyone welcome while (North Myrtle CRE ) has excellent services as FLYING'S editor this month describes while the Myrtle Beach International MYR is actually a closed Air Force Base with a huge runway and great service as an oversized airport with a GA component of about 50% (not really much "internaitonal'). Todd and Levon,
I would be glad to join Levon in the organization of a "canard fly-in" at any of the locations he mentioned , though I think the best would be North Myrtle Beach(CRE) because of the ocean , resort centers and golf courses available around that airport .

What time of year are you thinking about? I haven't flown ocean to ocean in a couple years, about time to do it again. As far as Todd & Jo, I'll wait till their here, then plan something haha. Although the fly-in's we had were lots of fun without them hmmm. Really it's always more fun with them, because Todd might by dinner. So if I do go back east to a fly-in I will stop in Kansas so you will get to see me either way, you two are so lucky.

It's always a pleasure to see Jo, I mean both of you. later, Glen ;)

I know it's hot and humid in Kansas in the summer, but I think a 4th of July invasion of El Dorado would be fun. Just think about sitting in front of Todd & Jo's hangar, barbeque goin' with steak, chicken, and shrimp (maybe some ribs) coolers scatterd with various beverages chillin', Todd throwing lawn darts, Glenn playing bocce ball on the taxi ways, I'll go into town and bring back a truck load of fireworks and we'd all have a good ole time.

Who's in?

I am in full agreement with CRE (North Myrtle Beach), or MYR (Myrtle Beach International) or SUT (New Brunswick County). My 1st choice is CRE since this is in the heart of the action, has rental cars on field, excellent facilities, and services. However, I think a meeting with them prior to setting the date would be best just to be sure that "behind the scene" is as good as the front show.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: When can JO & TODD be at the gathering. Their schedule should set ours.

I think a late Sep. or early OCT DATE would be spectacular from a "color" standpoint since the leaves should be glorious a long most of the inbound routes. Levon

Once again I have been absent for a bit as we finished up three, count them three airplanes, in about six weeks. Our AOPA airplane is off getting some avionics work done then on to the paint shop. It will be a knockout come convention time and I am looking forward to seeing a bunch of you in Palm Springs. We should have a good time. We'll see if Chris is still the party animal he was last time.

Everyone is always welcome here anytime. The 4th will have a bunch of fireworks and you are all invited.

Looking forward to seeing you in Palm Springs.

Finally met with the FBO at North Myrtle Beach. CRE or North Mytle Beach FBO said he would be happy to assist the "whiskers fly in" and would provide space, tables, chairs, what ever we needed. I told him most of us would buy some gas. They were very, very congenial and looking forward to seeing us have a "get together" with them. They are a full service FBO and the Editor of Flying gave them a sterling report some months back.

Would like to get back "on track" for a mini-Peterson Convention on the East Coast. If not Myrtle Beach, then at Sun-N-Fun at an airport other than Lakeland or Myrtle Beach after April. Levon

If folks want to combine a trip to Sun 'n Fun with a Peterson fly-in, we can do the fly-in at my home airport (Sarasota, about 30 minutes flying from Lakeland) or any of several nearby airports. I would be happy to host the event at my home. Lots of space, party "cabana", two docks at the house, multiple boats, kayaks, pool, and one of the "10 best beaches in the world" (Conde Nast) a mile away.

There's also a few cool grass strips that I've been exploring nearby...
