It is once again time to replace the cracked upper and lower wing strut cuffs. These are authentic Cessna parts, but seem to suffer from a rather short sevice life. Has anyone used some of the fiberglass aftermarket products? How well do they fit? How long do they last? Who is the best manufacturer? What about the Stene Aviation line of products?

Rod: Horton claims theirs are faster. I haven't tried them yet. Mine are about 6 years old from Texas Areoplastics and are in great shape.

Horton's strut cuffs do have a little less frontal area so they may in fact be a little faster.

They do require considerably more work to install however as the struts have to be reworked to accept them. The flat areas on the end of the struts need to be filled in so they mate up with the ends of the new strut cuffs. The flat areas need to be built up so they are a little more rounded. Struts then need to be repainted.
