Things you ONLY HEAR/SEE in a 260SE

From Jonathan, who's in 21396 in Phoenix on business:

Tower okayed him to land long on 27 -- 12,000 ft of it -- as Jonathan's FBO was at the far end.

So Jonathan flared, added a little power, and flew down the runway (it was night) at 2 agl and 40kts.

Nearing the end, Tower told him to go ahead and turn off at the next exit as the traffic behind him was now nearing the runway. Jonathan replied:

<i>"Ok, I'll touch down now and turn off"</i>

And long long pause ensued, and then ATC said simply:

<i> Uh, thanks </i>

On approach into Palo Alto during a not-very-busy time of day, I was descending for a straight-in at the top of the green arc, 142 KIAS:

"Palo Alto tower, Skylane 67E abeam Moffett landing Echo."

*pause*

"Centurion 67E, make straight in runway 31, report the amphitheater, cleared to land #1."

"Palo Alto tower, skylane 67E at the amphitheater."

"Roger Centurion 67E, continue."

"Tower, just to make sure, 67E is a Skylane."

"Roger, Skylane 67E, sorry."

"No problem, it's flattering that you thought I was a Centurion."

"Roger, Citation 67E, cleared to land 31."
