Can an SMA diesel equipped 182 have the canard as well? Is there room to do that mod?

It's pretty crowded under the cowl of the SMA diesel and the engine mount is quite different from the TCM engines certified for the canard hardware. It would almost certainly require redesign and recertification of the canard.

Clearly diesel is part of the future of piston-powered GA, especially outside of the US, but this will evolve over quite a period of time.
