After a few years of inactivity (during which time I had several major changes in my life) I'm back in the air with N364C.
The folks at Broadie's Aircraft at Meacham Field (KFTW if Fort Worth, TX) did a fantastic job in getting N364C back into top-notch condition. Last week I flew it from KFTW to its new/old home -- Paine Field (KPAE in Everett, WA). He burned only 1 quart of oil during the 16+ hour trip, and the *only* squawk was an excessively-precessing directional gyro.
It's great to be back in the air!

That is great! Is your 182 a 260se? When was it redone by the Petersons? Did you let it sit while you were out of flying or did someone take it up regularly? If it sat, what did you do to get it up in the air after the long hiatus? Annual, more? Thanks and congrats.

Yes, it's a 260SE, based on 1978 182Q, built by Todd in 2000.
Unfortunately, it did sit idle during my "off period". Even more unfortunately, it was tied-down outside due the lack of hangar space at KFTW.
The good (and surprising) news is the engine was in fantastic shape. The mechanics at Broadie's changed the oil, cleaned the injectors, replaced the spark plugs, pre-oiled it, and it fired right up. The compressions are all excellent.
The prop needed an overhaul, the top of the wing needed repainting, the brakes/wheels/nosegear needed overhaul, and the horizontal stabilizer required partial re-skinning due to a nasty crack.
The mechanics found absolutely no evidence of corrosion in the airframe, probably due to the liberal use of Corrosion-X at every annual. (The only downside of Corrosion-X is it causes the airframe to "bleed" for about 6 months, and the fluid seems to be a dirt/dust magnet.)
After all of the work, N364C flies just like it did before the hiatus. Woo-hoo!

That's great! The next time you take a hiatus, give me a call. I will put it in my hangar and warm it up once a week for you.:D

Nice to see you back on the forums and glad to hear that 364C survived hibernation well.
We may organize a fly-in for the spring (Sedona again?); hope you could attend.

Thanks, Kevin. Wherever the next fly-in happens to be, I'll be there! I'm looking forward to it.
