Apparently BRS will be offered as an option on all new Cessna singles! (http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/Cessna_BRSParachutes_196346-1.html) The announcement is rather low key, suggesting that crow is a dish best served cold over at Cessna.
Better late than never. This will surely sell more planes for them.
While she wouldn't say it in such stark terms herself, with Tina it was more or less, "No 'chute, no plane." I'm sure there are many pilots' spouses who feel the same way. Up until now, that meant buying Cirrus.
I wonder how they'll handle their soon-to-be-acquired Columbia 350/400? Retrofitting BRS to those planes would be a challenge.

Even better, for those of us who installed the BRS ourselves, Cessna Service Centers will be trained and certified to work on the BRS systems. So, no more worries about where to go to get line cutters replaced....

Kevin, do you know if there have as yet been any Cessna "saves" using the BRS chute??
I also have read with interest your "Building my 3rd 260SE" thread. Keep the news coming. Todd and Jo (whom I remember as good friends from years past) must count you as one of their top customers !
I noticed several places in your posts a reference to "Senior Management," which, at first, seemed a puzzelment. Then I figured it out:
Senior Management = Tina.... am I correct? :)
Cheers,
Tom

Absolutely! And I am above all one who is ever devoted to pleasing Senior Management! :) ;)

Peace and hunger - and not necessarily in that order - are powerful motivators, indeed. :D

Among certified aircraft, I only know of Cirrus "saves," of which I believe there have been about 11. There have been numerous successful deployments involving ultralights, etc. A number of LSA have them as standard or optional equipment, so I wouldn't be surprised to hear of an LSA deployment in the next year or two.
