A great fly-in experience. Brian captured the "Furthest Flown" award. It is wonderful to put faces together with N-numbers & forum names and to meet future owners.

Just wanted to check-in with everyone; we were bumped around a little on the way home, but a small price to pay for the tailwind. We actually got to see 260SE normal ground speeds (with 41M maintaining 135 kt TAS). It was a comfortable smooth ride once we passed into Texas.

I’m doing some gardening and yard-work while the sun shines & will work on posting pictures when the rain begins.

Safe flight/drive home everyone!

I just arrived home a few minutes ago. I had 40kt headwinds at 12,500ft going west Saturday after giving Don a ride at Flagstaff. The headwinds were much less today between LA and Ukiah. I got 230se number's with my 260 lol. Glen

I flew nonstop from SEZ to EQA, 5.1 hr and 55 gallons LOP. Enjoyed 15-20 kt tailwinds most of the way at 11,500. :) Pretty rough in AZ and NM but gradually smoothed out after crossing the Rockies. Cleaned up 2PL today and it sure looks good in the PPP hangar with Todd & Jo's planes and JJ's 95803.

Very much enjoyed seeing old friends and making some new ones. Too bad WX and wind kept attendance down, but there's always next time. Based on the locals' recommendations, we'll schedule future AZ fly-ins for the fall instead of spring.

You East Coast guys really should step up and organize something in your neck of the woods! ;)

My owner-assisted annual starts tomorrow. Todd will put a screwdriver in my hand and then take cover. :p I'll do as much damage as I can then airline (eeeuww!) back home late Monday or sometime on Tuesday.

Matt and I went to Louise's Santa Rosa airport I58). What a view! Just spectacular! We were off at SEZ at 1530Z and circled, took some pics, and headed East to I58. Got to I58 in 3hours, no bumps until just before ABQ,then were awakened a bit, re-fueled, and took off for BTR with a planned stop around DFW. Decided to try Mineral Wells MWL and glad we did. Thought about continuing to BTR this PM but figured 6 hours was fine with me.Burned total of 36 gals at 11.5K to I58 and 46 at 9.5Kto MWL. BTR tomorrow, then SC72 Tuesday.
We had a great time and I learned a lot about flying. Matt is in the process of getting his student license. Had carb heat applied above clouds about 100 miles from MWL. Always had a clear view of the edge of them all the way. Finally decided to get down to 7.5 and came on in. MWL looks great to me on the ground.
I appreciate the info I picked up talking to all and I do believe the East Coast deserves some coordination.
Once again, THANKS!

I think "dogged determination" award is best. Thanks for coming all that distance in less than optimal conditions! Really enjoyed meeting you, your 230se/stol is a beauty!

Brian,

Wish we'd have communicated better. We're just 37nm to the north east of Mineral Wells. Could have shared the metropolis of Decatur, TX and Mom's homemade sauce with you two.

Well, on Saturday morning I flew over along with a friend to meet you guys at Marble Canyon for lunch. Next time you change plans let me know! We waited for about 30-45 minutes and then figured it out and had lunch anyway. It was still a fun hamburger run.

Next time let's schedule something with maybe a couple classes as well. Maybe a backcountry class and a maintenance or engine class? Maybe we could have the meeting at Todd's and he can do annuals for all of us!;):D

Hey everybody,
I stayed over Saturday, was invited to Tlaquepaque by an area art connoisseur named Tom , chuckle chuckle, which was really interesting, took a beautiful sightseeing flight around Sedona on Sat. evening and headed back to Idaho late Sun. morning.
I had to do a lot of dodging and weaving around low clouds and virga, a little freezing rain (my first experience with ice on the airframe) and got bumped around a little here and there as well as taking some up and downdraft elevator rides but on the whole it wasn't a horrible flight and still made it back in 4.5 hrs.
I also survived flying right through the middle of a Notam'd rocket launching area that my briefer failed to mention to myself and, apparently, another pilot of a commercial a.c.

Although it was frustrating Todd and others couldn't make it and many couldn't stay longer it was great to meet those of you who did and I look forward to seeing you in the future.

BTW - In addition to JoeJenie, I ran into 2 other people on Sat that showed up looking for the group.

Maybe in the future we can designate 2 or 3 people to monitor their email/ be designated cell phone contacts so the late comers can still find out where we are and what the most current plans are, without one person having the whole burden (such as Kevin). However, the argument could be made that a guy who has owned 3 Peterson a.c. in recent history deserves punishment:)

I was very glad to have Don as a contact when I came on Fri (thanks again Don)

Again, great to meet everyone.
Jeff

P.S. Thanks again, Tom, for the ride to KPAN and downtown Sedona.

Very good idea. :) This fly-in was different from our previous events in that the majority of attendees were those interested in the aircraft instead of owners. Attendees of previous events were all owners who already knew each other and had contact information. They either arrived or didn't show because of WX and it was a simple matter to keep track.

Add to this my frustration at intermittent operation of my cell phone at SEZ. My apologies here to Joe Rainey for my not getting the word to him of the change from Marble Canyon to Payson. However I suppose that a flight to somewhere as beautiful as L41 in a King Katmai had its own rewards, even if the rest of us weren't there!

However, the argument could be made that a guy who has owned 3 Peterson a.c. in recent history deserves punishment:)

Hey, if I can dish it out, I should be able to take it! ;)
