Hi,
My baby is on its way already and should arrive soon. There are no hangars available here and we get a lot of soot from some refineries and power stations nearby so a cover is a must. I have been quite satisfied with a Bruce cover for the Cirrus (fuselage and wings) and am looking for something for the Katmai. The minimum would be the basic cockpit/fuselage one but I was wondering about getting some engine plugs as well and a tail cone and maybe even wings covers. I noticed that Bruce is selling a tail cone cover for the 182. We have a Lot of rain here also and would be grateful for some expert advice.
Thanks
JJ

There are a couple of aircraft at PAO that are tied down but the owners have covers for the entire airframe, even the propeller. I can only imagine how much fun it is to put those on during a windy summer afternoon! :p I think Bruce's can make covers for every part of the plane; don't know about other vendors. You might also post your question on the COPA & CPA forums.
I saw your plane at PPP when I was there; very nice! I'm sure you'll be pleased.
Looks like I'll be heading back there sometime next week, WX permitting, to bring 2PL back home after the annual.

Hi Kevin,
These covers are a pain to install when it's windy but the canvas material somehow filter and retain the dirt and soot in the fiber and keep the paint clean a few more weeks. I will probably go for just a canopy cover that goes over the top and the engine plugs.
The wait has been very long but I am sure it will be worth. Plenty of interesting new airfields where I couldn't get in safely with the Cirrus will be accessible with my SUV of the air.
Cheers,
JJ

Hope you're getting a chance to fly your new bird in Singapore! Not sure where the nearest bird of the same feather is, although I know there's at least one 260SE in New Zealand. I wish you many hours of fun committing aviation with your Katmai.
I brought 2PL back home from KS Tuesday. Nice weather with less turbulence over the desert areas than I expected but ferocious headwinds, started out at 65 kt  over Wichita, mellowing out to a mere 20-25 kt going up the Central Valley and into Palo Alto. I averaged a little over 100 kt groundspeed, all the while doing at least 140 KTAS! 13 hr enroute, a good 2 hr longer than it would be under even average conditions. Thank goodness for LOP operation...
For the first time ever, I planned my stops based on fuel prices; (http://www.100LL.com) Las Vegas NM (LVS) and Kingman AZ (IGM) were right at or just under $5/gallon. I figured I saved nearly $80 on the flight by doing this.
Good to have her back in space U4 at PAO. Meanwhile, in the mere four weeks that she was back in the nest at EQA, fuel prices at PAO went up 20%, from just over $5/gal to just under $6!! Sheesh!
