I cannot put into words (at least on this forum) how frustrating it is to work with the FAA. As many of you are aware we are in the process of adding the IO-550 to our STC in response to some mountain flyers that just needed more power for those short mountain strips.
We have two small projects to finish up before the final flight evaluation and both of these could easily be done within a couple of days. We have been at this point now since mid July with little movement. The primary reason for this lack of progress is due to FAA personnel not returning our DER's phone calls. Because of this literally weeks and months go by with little or no progress because of the FAA's inability to communicate with their designated representatives i.e., our DER's. Hopefully we will be able to finish these projects up in the next week or so and have the entire project finished by mid November. And I mean this November for those of you that have worked with the FAA before. Our company airplane has accumulated well over 200 flight hours on this engine with absolutely no problems.
We will keep you posted.
