I own a Bushmaster 182N and live in Panama. I ordered de F&M Enterprise Oil Filter Adapter Number FM_C6LC-S to install in the IO-470F engine. After instalation I found the clearences between the oil filter and the intake manifold and between the oil filter and the firewall to be quite small. I am attaching two photos of such clearances. Does anyone has any experience with this oil filter instalation? With the engine vibration, the oil filter can be punctured an the engine to loose oil pressure. Please advise.

Normally I have found if the oil filter can be screwed off without hitting the firewall it will be okay. As to the other picture, the induction elbow can be relocated somewhat to provide more clearance if needed. With that said the clearances between the filter and the induction elbow can be small as their is no relative motion between the two. Unfortunately this cannot be said of the oil filter to firewall fit where a greater amount of "wiggle room" is needed.

My oil filter fits very tight as well. I slide a business card or something of the sort in between the filter and elbow just to check that there is some clearance. Just that much clearance has worked for me. It also gives you enough space to slide a plastic bag around the filter to catch the spillage when changing the oil.
