--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Due to term insurance conditions, it looks like I will need to sell my aircraft or get my IR ticket. Since I have decided against being a low time, infrequent user of the skills needed to be a competent IFR pilot, I believe the correct thing to do is to sell my A/C. I had been deliberating for a while whether or not I should sell my AC, but this put me over the edge. It doesn't make sense to sell it in this market, but it makes less sense to keep it and put more important assets at risk in the event that the insurance company has to write a check. As a lot of folks say, I never planned to sell it, but now it looks like my plans need to change.
All logs are scanned. A/C is N980L( used to be N6BN). I believe I bought it in 2003 from a local fellow who traveled from Delaware to SC regularly.
This A/C has original interior, 6 year old paint , new metal panel with :
Narco 121
Narco 122
2) SL40 Comms
Narco 190 TSO'd DME
PM7000A(?)
4 jacks for headsets
Flightline CRM 2101 Engine Monitor
Engine has about 400 hours SMOH by Epps, but it was done in 1994 I believe.
ACFT TT2400
Savvy Aircraft Maintenance Management
Flap gap seals
Open T-hangar storage
Corrosion proof treatment about 4 years ago I think. No corrosion found, just treated it because it seemed like the prudent thing to do on 34 year old machine.

I will have pics later this week.
Only damage I can find was in the 90's when a storm caused hangar damage which resulted in re-skinning RH elevator ( all receipts in logs since day 1)
I am a VFR only guy and just never saw the need to spend all the $ on the newest and greatest glass stuff. Thought about it a lot, but just couldn't make the decison to do that. I am glad that somebody else gets to put in what they want, because I would probably make a different decison than others. I couldn't find an interior that added speed to the A/C either
I use the True Flight FL210 GPS set-up which is plenty good for what I do.

I'll get other pertinent info posted later this week when I make a more complete list.
Asking price will be determined by then. Not teasing, just don't really know what I want to settle for.

The only reservation I might have would that I would want to, if possible, fly one more time when the guy I bought it from passes away. I told him I would scatter his ashes, and I would like to keep that promise. Expenses for the round trip would be picked up by me.

Thanks again for your time and consideration

Sorry to hear it.

Have you checked with Pilot Insurance Center (http://www.piclife.com/)? Senior Management and I have our term policies through them, they seem to welcome GA pilots as clients. Other companies either wouldn't insure me or put me into a very high risk--read: expensive premiums--category. Maybe they can insure you without the IR requirement.

You might also consider that just training for and getting the rating will make you a better VFR pilot, even if you decide not to remain IFR current. I would be amazed if the insurance company would demand that you remain current, do they want you to pass an IPC every 6 or 12 months?

Kevin,
Thanks and by the way I really did enjoy meeting you last year in Sedona.
I looked into them and could have gone with them, but I had already gone a bit down the road with someone else and received a good rating. I just have lost a good bit of my desire to fly. It just doesn't mean that much to me now. It is just not how I want to spend my time. I live 7 miles form my bird, have plenty of time to fly, but just choose to do other things instead. The insurance requirement to not be PIC is just another BIG thing I can't reason around. Geting my IR would make me a safer pilot, but I am kind of thinking, do I really want to be an active pilot anymore? The airlines , although they are cumbersome, are surely more dependable from a transportation perspective than my 37 year old A/C. I like the SAMM affiliation, but even with that, I just am not ever going to be a knowledgeable guy about engines and mechanical stuff. The digital Auracle is great and it gives me good information, but I am not the kind of guy that will tweak it on my own. I use it for information for someone who knows a lot about that stuff. The pilots are going to be better in the airlines ( for the most part ). The amount of use I get out of my bird just doesn't add up. I started out thinking of putting in a Chelton system in my bird when it first came out to eventully settling for what I had when I bought it as far as IFR navigation. Priorities are dynamic. What a lopp I have been on. I have never regretted the Peterson canard once though. I am glad I have owned one and I hope someone else can continue to enjoy it.

Well, I finally received the appraisal, looked it over, and then decided on a price my aircraft. I am asking $85K for it. Anybody that is interested, please let me know and thanks in advance.

Is your plane still for sale? If so do you have pictures that you could email?
Thanks

Brian,
If you haven't already sold your plane I would be interested in information about it. I live in Idaho and am in the market for a Peterson conversion.
Thanks.

Closed on the deal today. Couldn't be happier overall. The guy who bought has a great use for it in Alaska as a training platform for new pilots . I think I'll take a trip up there one day and see it with the big tires on it.
Thanks to all who offered advice from the beginning to the end! I've enjoyed the comments and the advice from all.
